Homemade Masks

Using masks is one of the homemade beauty tips for glowing skin; you can use them to invigorate, soothe, or moisturize skin. Before applying any mask, open the pores by applying a warm, damp washcloth to the face. After removing the mask, rinse with warm water, then cold.

  • Smooth on face and allow to dry before rinsing

Homemade Moisturizers

Daily moisturizing is essential, and natural ingredients are easy to find in your kitchen. Many homemade moisturizers are made from perishable food items, and mixtures should be refrigerated and used within three days to a week.

Cocoa Butter and Egg Moisturizer for Normal Skin

  • Melt two tablespoons cocoa butter over low heat
  • Separate one egg yolk and add to butter
  • Add two tablespoons lemon juice
By using natural oils, fruits, juices, and sugars, you can create cleansers, moisturizers, and masks in your own kitchen. Search the internet for the myriad of recipes available, or experiment and create mixtures custom-made for your own skin.

7. Wear SPF 30...on Your Lips
It's easier to prevent your lips from getting chapped than it is to repair them if they're already dry and cracked. If you spend lots of time outdoors, especially in windy, sunny or cold weather, a thick balm with SPF 30 will keep your lips hydrated.
8. Use Skin-Specific Moisturizer
For oily skin: You don't want to add much more moisture, but you do want to hydrate. Look for ingredients like hyaluronic acid or ferulic acid, both of which help your skin maintain water. For dry skin: Stick with the hyaluronic acid or ferulic acid, but don't worry about finding an oil-free formula. Your skin craves moisture. For breakout-prone skin: Choose a moisturizer that's noncomedogenic. It should say so on the bottle. For sensitive skin: Your go-to is a fragrance-free product.
9. Reduce Sunspots With an Acid Peel
Peels are designed to slough off dead skin and bring new, fresh skin to the surface. To make the most of these spa treatments, you'll want to book a series of peels. Start with six different sessions, each two weeks apart (so skin has time to recover). If you have a full year until the wedding, Zicu recommends scheduling this treatment twice a year, once in the spring and once in the fall.

4. Eat More Watermelon
No matter what your skin type is -- oily, dry, normal or combo -- it craves water. Sure, drinking water helps, but snacking on watermelon works too. Other super foods for your face: grapefruit, broccoli and lettuce.
5. "Shrink" Your Pores With Microdermabrasion
We want to give it to you straight, so first, the bad news: You can't actually change the size of your pores. "The deeper a pore is, the bigger it looks on the skin's surface," says Cornelia Zicu, global chief creative officer and renowned facialist for Elizabeth Arden Red Door Spas. The good news: You can minimize the depth of your pores to make them seem smaller. Here's how: "Microdermabrasion, glycolic acid and other chemical peels will exfoliate layers of bad skin and minimize pore surface," Zicu explains.
6. Use Salt Scrubs to Soften Elbows
This is the one thing most brides forget about. Add a bath to your weekly routine and throw in bath salts with sodium bicarbonate. "The sodium bicarbonate will break down dry patches and make your skin a sponge for moisture," says Zicu. For really tough patches, ask an aesthetician to put a glycolic peel on your elbows when you go in for a facial.

1. Assess Early
If you really want to get your skin in top form, you'll need to start a smart skincare routine about a year in advance. It's okay if you don't have that long before the wedding day -- just adopt these good skincare habits as soon as possible.
2. Schedule Professional Facials
Your wedding is the perfect excuse for some extra pampering. You'll want to book monthly facials to really refresh your skin. Experienced aestheticians will massage your skin, scalp and decolletage to stimulate blood circulation and keep your skin looking pink, not sallow. You can also request extractions. This is when your facialist gets all the dirt out of your pores. The process takes preparation and special techniques that, if done at home, can lead to irritation, or worse, scarring.
3. Manage Oil With Blotting Sheets
If you're on the go, blotting papers will help keep your face shine-free. If you need a more advanced grease solution, streamline your routine. Use a mild face wash (we love Cetaphil), skip the toner and add a lightweight oil-free moisturizer. Excessive face washing will kick oil production into overdrive.

Indian Bridal Makeup Tips

1. Cleansing The Face

Indian brides love to use bold and bright colors for their marriage ceremonies. In order to obtain a long-lasting look, you should start by cleansing your face well and then patting it dry to ensure that there are no traces of dirt or oil on the face.

2. Base Preparation Tips

Moisturize your face for a smooth appearance and an even skin tone. Amidst working extensively on the face alone, do not forget to moisturize using your fingertips by rubbing well in a circular and gentle motion. You could even use a tinted moisturizer.

3. Face Fix Up Tips

a. Use a primer two minutes post moisturizing, and blend it well. This helps to keep your concealer and foundation in place, and keeps the makeup intact for long hours. Sephora and MAC are amongst the top brands for primers.
b. It is equally important to use a concealer to cover spots or blemishes. You can brighten up your skin tone by using a colored concealer like yellow or green to cover the reddish blemishes on the skin.
c. Apply a foundation without SPF and blend it well with a makeup brush or a sponge. Starting from the center of the face, apply the foundation on the other areas and blend it outwards. A foundation with a matte finish would be a good option as well. A foundation with SPF will give your face an undesirable ‘flash’ effect in photographs, so it’s better to avoid it. You won’t be spending much time in the sun on your wedding day anyway!
d. For a glowing look, use a highlighter on the higher planes of the face, such as the check bones, the bridge of the nose, the center of the forehead, and the Cupid’s bow. You can opt for highlighters from Colorbar, Sephora, or MAC.

4. Bronzer Tips

The bronzer is commonly used to heavily contour the face and make it look chiseled and sharp in the photographs.
Take a blush brush, preferably angular, and apply with strokes on to the sides of the chin, but not on the center. Do the same on the sides of the forehead, and on the two sides along the nose bone, but not on the top. Suck your cheeks in and use some bronzer on the top part of the contours, near to the ear, in light strokes. But make sure it is not along the entire length of the contour.

5. Blush Tips

Take some blush on a blush brush and pat the excess off. Hold a steady smile and apply it in a circular motion, blending it upwards, towards the ears.

6. Eyeshadow Tips

Indian brides love  gold eye makeup since it goes well with their red, fuchsia, or green lehengas, ghagras, or heavy saris. So, if you want to play it safe, this is the color to go with.
Paint your eyelids with a gold or peachy pink shade, and use some charcoal shadow on the exterior lid contours to give a subtle, smokey effect. You can achieve this by using a brown shade on the inner crease area. You can also use golden eyeshadow instead of silver for the brow bones.
Use an eyebrow pencil or an angular brush dipped in brow powder for the eyebrows.

7. Eyeliner Tips

Do not experiment with brown or blue liners on your wedding day. It’s better to use a plain and simple jet-black liner, preferably waterproof. Draw a thick line on the top and a heavy line with a strong kajal on the lower eyelid, smudging it till the outer corner for that extra oomph.
Don’t forget to use a volume-enhancing mascara. Mascaras with curled brushes work great for awesome, curly lashes.
Grab some false lashes to accentuate and open up your eyes, making them look brighter. Remember to have some trials before the wedding date just to ensure there is no room for trial and error on the wedding day.

Important makeup and beauty tips for South Indian brides

Important makeup and beauty tips for South Indian brides

A traditional South Indian wedding is quite a spectacle in its own right as its nuptial functions represent elegance and symbolism of their culture. Unlike, its northern counterparts, wedding in Southern India are celebrated in a more conservative manner with little or no pomp and show. Bride looks their traditional best with heavily embroidered silk sarees, kanjeevaram sarees and madisar style 9-yard saree, which are carefully selected and draped. And not to forget, the antique style temple gold jewelry pieces that look spectacular. The muted gold finish is another distinctive aspect of the South Indian weddings that complements the overall bridal look.
South Indian brides need to be careful while choosing their perfect bridal makeup look as they are already wearing heavy embroidered silk sarees and multiple layers of jewelry. Besides hiring an experienced makeup artist, these are some important makeup and beauty tips that Zuri would like to share with you. These tips will help you to bring out your natural beauty and make you look your prettiest best.
1. While selecting colors for your makeup look keep in mind to match them with the attire and jewelry. This includes makeup for the eyes, lips, face and neck area. If there is too much color in your attire and jewelry, then we suggest that you use colors that complement your overall look. Dusky skin tone beauties look stunning in bright shades like red and coral.
2. You can choose to make either the eyes or lips as the focus area of your makeup. If you have to change multiple outfits, then we suggest that you stick with colors like gold, bronze, neutral shades of brown and pink. Make sure to highlight your features with bold and dramatic eyeliner.
3. On your wedding day opt for a long lasting lipstick and reapply lip balm to keep lips moisturized.
4. Apart from the makeup, having a great skin is also of utmost importance. To have a great skin on your big day, it is recommended that you start early on. If you are suffering from any skin issues like acne then get it treated with the help of a dermatologist.
5. Whether you realize or not, what you eat impacts your skin. Avoid oily, junk and overly spicy foods, and limit caffeine from your diet. Also, drink 8-10 glasses of water to keep your skin hydrated and glowing.
6. Include the following treatments in your pre-bridal ritual– bleach, body scrub and massage, and facial. Do not try new treatments or cosmetics as it might cause rash or an allergic reaction. It is best to stick to products that you know are skin safe.
7. We know, late nights are common when there is so much to take care of. But try and get at least 7-8 hours of your beauty sleep especially when the day of your wedding is near.Tired and puffy under eyes will not look good in the wedding pictures.
8. To protect the skin from external damage, always wear a sun block when you plan to head out and carry an umbrella too.
9. Follow the CTM (cleansing, toning and moisturizing) routine every night. Following a CTM routine will help your skin to better respond to all the skin treatments and care.
10. Last but not the least, it is important to properly shape your eyebrows before the big day as it helps a great deal to shape your face.

Wedding is that day in the life of a couple that is most special and needs to be the most memorable. For the bride to be, there are a lot of things to be considered. This should be done after the process of cleansing the skin and twice a day. Try to use 100% natural products for nourishing the skin. You can even use homemade moisturizers for maximum benefits.
Get Regular Facials:
A one month cycle is perfect for the bride to be where facials are concerned. This is valid for a minimum of 6 months from the date of wedding. Bi-weekly gold facials can be taken if there is less time in hand. This will help in adding the glow to the skin that is required for the bride on the main day.

Use Homemade Treatments:

How to do Telugu Bridal Makeup

How to do Telugu Bridal Makeup

Telugu culture involves a lot of simplicity in overall wedding culture. The centre of attention of a wedding i.e. the bride is also dressed very simply. As for her make-up, jewellery, hair-do, and costume are very rich and elegant, therefore, the facial make-up needs to be very light to prevent a very flashy and over the top look. Here are basic steps using which you can do a Telugu bridal make-up all by yourself at home.
1. Cleansing:
Before starting make-up, clean your face and neck properly. This is important to remove dirt and impurities from the face and get a smooth base. After cleansing, rub ice cubes on the face to close the open pores. Apply very light moisturiser that contains no SPF.
2.Corrector:
The second step is to use corrector on spots and places like under and sides of the nose, below the lower lip, under-eyes, eye lids, jaw line and cheekbones. Apply strokes of the corrector focussing major problem areas.
3. Foundation:
Use dots of foundation all over the face and blend well with the corrector. Use a clean and moist make up pad and with slight patting motion to give the face a smooth base. Use foundation and corrector that suit your skin tine and not a tone lighter. Also note that these contain no SPF because base make up with SPF will make the appearance in photographs light.
4. Compaq:
Finally, set the base with loose powder. Apply it in the similar patting motion. Using a big brush remove the extras from face and neck to prevent the look from becoming cakey.
5. Eye Shadow:
To start with the eye make-up, apply loose powder over the eyelids and under the eyes. Apply a base colour on the lids first. Using a deeper shade on the outer corner, add depth to the eyes by blending it inwards. Then apply a glittery colour on the brow bones and blend thoroughly. If required, use another quote of the highlighter to accentuate the eyes.
6. Kohl, Eye Liner and Mascara:
Usually, powdered eye liner is used to highlight the eyes. With a thin brush, apply powdered liner on the eye lids and under the eyes. Then with a liquid liner, apply a thin outline on the eye lids. Use mascara on upper and lower eye lashes and finish the eye makeup with the final touch of Kajal.
7. Eye Brow Corrector:
There are various options to choose from on the way you would like to enhance the eye brows. You can use powdered liner, black eye shadow that has a little glitter, Kajal pencil or eye brow pencil to deepen the eye lashes. This makes the eyes more prominent and bright.
8. Blusher :
On the cheek bones, use a nude blusher or the ones with very light pink or peach undertones. Avoid using dark shades; those make the appearance darker. It is basically just to enhance facial features. Use a few strokes on the nose, under chin and on forehead too. This makes the face glow when photographed.

• The wedding day is a really big day for the bride, therefore the makeup should last for a longer time. To get your makeup stay perfectly till the end, you must use a good quality primer. The primer smoothly evens out the texture of the skin and also refines the open pores on the face.
• Now you need to work on the concealer. This helps in hiding all the blemishes, pimples, dark spots on your face. It is always good to use a cream based concealer.
• Choosing a right foundation for the face can be tricky. A foundation should perfectly match the skin tone and should never look brighter. For a long lasting effect, patiently apply multiple layers of foundation.
• Use a dash of pink blush-on on your cheeks to get the natural glow.
The Perfect Eye Look:

A dramatic eye makeup looks excellent on South Indian Brides. Start by using an eye cream followed by a primer to even out the eye area. Use a gold or bronze eye shadow to compliment the look. Use the brush from the centre and work towards the end, first on the lower lid and then upper lid. Use a waterproof eye liner or kajal to highlight the eyes. Apply at least 3 coats of mascara to get the smoky look. Brighten the eye makeup by applying neutral tone glitters on the inner corners and brow bones.
As the focus of this bridal look for South Indian brides is the eye, you need to underplay with the lips-do to get the best look. The color of your lip shade should depend on your lips size. If you have small, thin lips use a light lip color and for fullers lips it is suggested to use darker shades. This will make your pout look more appealing and sensuous.
